Eastern Conference Player of the Week: Carlos Boozer

Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City Thunder was named the NBA Western Conference player of the week… makes sense. Carlos Boozer’s incredible play in four games last week earned him the NBA Eastern Conference player of the week… whoa. I must say it’s a little strange to see Boozer recognized by the NBA since so many fans have not been happy with him since his arrival in Chicago just a little over two years ago. Long story short, the big man hasn't been popular. Between inconsistent play and a lack of presence in the postseason, it’s easy to understand why Chicago fans are upset. But his performance as of lately could possibly change all of that.

For the last week (Jan 14-20), Boozer led the Bulls 3-1, averaging 23.0 points and 14.8 rebounds. That included a season high of 36 points on Wednesday night against the Toronto Raptors and 20 rebounds on Friday night against the Boston Celtics. Boozer has had 11 double-doubles in his last 12 games and leads the conference with 23 double-doubles. If he keeps this up, he could receive the Eastern Conference player of the month.

Boozer has been carrying the Bulls for the last several games and has been the key reason why Chicago is in fifth place in the Eastern Conference—yeah I really believe that and went there.

So what’s gotten into Boozer? Who cares! As long he keeps this up, I won’t complain.

The Bulls are currently playing the Lakers and are leading 47-40. Boozer has eight points and four rebounds at the half.
