The biggest
and most shocking story in the NBA last year was probably Jeremy Lin becoming a
starter for the New York Knicks. NY fans developed nicknames for the player
based on his last name, and the most popular word to come out of them all was
Linsanity—a term used to describe the excitement over Lin’s presence.
Although Lin
only played with the Knicks for the 2011-12 season, fans of the ex-New York
player are hoping Linsanity returns this season, but this time as a Houston
Rocket. Unfortunately, Lin’s knee injury from previous season could make this
hard to accomplish as he is having issues recovering from his knee surgery. More
than six months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus, Lin
continues to mention problems with his left knee. According to Lin, his speed
and agility are not where they were pre-injury so his offensive game is likely
to suffer.
Some Rockets' coaches feel that Lin needs to work harder to improve his game, but the player himself believes his knee injury is the key problem. Although Lin will put points on the board this year, according to bleacherreport, "If he doesn't trust his body, he's going to shy away from making plays and controlling the offense."
In order to duplicate
the hype and frenzy that surrounded him last year, Lin must reclaim his
explosiveness or the Rockets’ $25 million investment will look like an enormous
overpayment.
Will Lin be able to fully recover and bring Linsanity to Houston?
