MIAvsOKC

Looks like my second guess was right: Miami vs OKC for the NBA finals, game 1 starting tonight. I must say this year both the Eastern and Western finals were very thrilling to watch. I thought Boston would lose to Miami in five, but the Celtics clearly put up a fight and made a gallant effort against the Heat to the end. From the beginning of the playoffs (after Derrick Rose got injured), I unfortunately felt that Miami was going to be the 2012 Eastern Conference Champions, but it was still heartbreaking nonetheless to see Boston make it so far and lose in game seven. As much as I would have loved to see the aging Celtics beat the Heat and move ahead to the finals, I don’t know how long they would have lasted against the energy of the Thunder.

I think the Heat-Thunder matchup is going to be a great and exciting series. In a way, both teams even each other out. Although Miami is more established and experienced than OKC, youth and depth are definitely pluses for the Thunder. Miami’s got a big three (James, Wade and Bosh) and OKC has a trio as well (Durant, Westbrook and Harden). And let’s not forget both teams are No. 2 seeds.  As hard as it was to see the Spurs lose four games in a row to OKC, especially after a 20-game winning streak, my hat goes off to the Thunder.  San Antonio played good basketball, but OKC played greater. I thought the Spurs had the best chance to win in the finals against the Heat, but the Thunder proved me wrong.

I feel that the NBA finals can really go either way this year with the Heat-Thunder matchup ahead. I’m hoping that if both teams keep tying the series, OKC’s home-court advantage and what many people (including myself) think are the loudest fans in the NBA, cheer the Thunder to victory and their first championship ever. Technically OKC has one under their belt from back in the day when they were the Seattle Supersonics, but that was in 1979 and doesn’t really count. It’s time to make history. Needless to say,

Go Thunder!

    1. Looks like it's gonna be Miami vs Lakers next year.. If the Lakers don't make it to the finals between Kobe, Nash and Howard - that will be ridiculous.
